Local SEO for Singapore Small Businesses

Found when someone searches your service and your area, on the map and below it.

Last updated: 2026-10-14

Local searches in Singapore are a two-part race. On a phone, all six trade searches we checked ("plumber singapore", "aircon servicing singapore", "hair salon singapore" and three more) showed a map pack above the ordinary results (DataForSEO live Google results, Singapore, mobile, 14 October 2026). RankRight works on both parts: your Google Business Profile for the map, and your website's pages for the results below it.

Where we start

We start with a free visibility check: where your business appears today for the searches that matter to you, in the map pack and in the organic results, and what ranks above you. The plan comes from that, not from a package.

What Google says it uses

Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity, which its page goes on to describe as prominence: how well-known a business is, including how many websites link to it and how many reviews it has. It also says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking (Google).

So local SEO is work on the two parts a business can affect: relevance (complete, accurate details, and pages that match what people search) and prominence (reviews, mentions, links, a site Google can read). Distance is where the searcher is standing, and nobody changes that.

Why your website still matters for the map

The map pack shows the profile, but the profile links to a website. When that site has a clear page for each service and area, with the same name, address and phone as the profile, Google has more to match against what people search, and a customer who taps through finds what the profile promised.

What the searches looked like on 14 October

We pulled the live mobile results for six trade searches. All six showed a map pack. None showed an AI Overview. In every one of the six, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, a directory or an agency held at least one top-ten organic place; for "car workshop singapore" they held four (see the industry pages). When social and forum pages rank for a money search, it usually means too few businesses have a strong, specific page for it.

What we will not do

  • Promise a ranking or a date
  • Buy links, or ask you to link to us
  • Write or buy reviews
  • Build copy-paste town pages
  • Hide what we changed: every change is listed for you

What is included

  • Free visibility check
  • Google Business Profile review
  • A page per main service and area, where demand exists
  • Name, address and phone matched everywhere
  • Business details markup that matches the page
  • Sitemap submitted to Google and Bing
  • Positions re-checked after the work
  • A list of every change made

What it costs

Published Singapore guides put SEO at S$500 to S$3,000 a month for most businesses, with entry plans around S$500 to S$1,500 (Digital Marketing Agency); another puts most SMEs at S$1,500 to S$3,000 (Roots Digital); a third lists basic agency packages from S$400 to S$700 a month (OOM). RankRight quotes after the free visibility check, so you price the work against your own results, not a package.

How it works

  1. Send your business and website. Plus the two or three services you most want customers to find, and the areas you serve.
  2. Free visibility check. Where you show on Google today for those searches, map pack and organic, and what ranks above you.
  3. A plan with a price. What to fix first, why, and what it costs. Nothing to pay before this.
  4. Work, then measure. Changes made and listed, pages submitted, the same searches checked again.

Questions people ask

How much does local SEO cost in Singapore?

Published guides put most Singapore SEO at S$500 to S$3,000 a month, with entry plans around S$500 to S$1,500 and basic agency packages from S$400 to S$700. RankRight quotes after a free visibility check.

Can you guarantee first place on Google?

No. Google says nobody can guarantee a #1 ranking, and that there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Treat any guarantee as a reason to look elsewhere.

How long does SEO take to work?

Google's own starter guide says some changes take effect in a few hours and others take several months, and suggests waiting a few weeks before judging whether a change helped. Anyone promising results by a date is guessing.

Can I do local SEO myself?

Often, yes. Google says a small local business can probably do much of the work itself, starting from its SEO starter guide. The free check tells you what needs doing either way.

Is the visibility check free?

Yes. You see where you show on Google for your own searches before you pay anything, with no obligation to go ahead.
